Do you have a dream that you are awaiting to fulfill? Or are you  consistently struggling to achieve a goal? Do you feel like you are making no progress despite all your hard work like you are spinning in a circle?   If you answered yes to these three questions, then this blog is for you!

The Journey to Success is not easy, believe me!  I have struggled and jumped over so many hurdles to get where I am in life. My learning disability is my strength, not my weakness. There is a stigma that those with special needs are weak and limited to their ability. I want to let you know there are #nolimits to what we can achieve!

Join me on this journey to success! I want to share with you, my personal stories of inspiration and motivation that helped me to overcome the challenges I have faced. Your special needs may be different than mine but you do not have to overcome the challenges alone. We are on this journey together!

Count Your No's

A few months ago I was listening to a podcast for creative entrepreneurs (Being Boss Podcast). As usual, I find this podcast motivational and encouraging on my journey but this episode stood out in particular. The episode was focusing on a method to help achieve our goals, and one of the hosts had mentioned how they keep a tally of all the no’s or rejections they receive. At first, I thought this was odd (and I bet you do too) but once I tried the method for myself I realized it served a greater purpose tsuccess.

I always remember hearing one of the dragon’s on Dragon’s Den say themselves they would not do business with an entrepreneur who hasn’t experienced failure. Believe it or not, failure breeds success. Everyone wants change without the cost of actually doing the work. The challenge is getting out of our comfort zone and taking that first step. Let’s be honest it is easy to stay and do what makes us comfortable but we will not grow.

Here is a secret that many do not know about me. I work full time, I am in school student doing a second bachelor’s degree and starting a business.  It is not easy and probably one of the most challenging adventures. I started Special Compass because I had experience too many failures and rejection in university, I did not want other students to have the same experience especially those with learning disabilities. I wanted to pursue higher education but did not have a strong G.P.A to even been considered for admission and I refuse to settle for less.

After listening to this podcast I decided to start counting my no’s. Keeping a tally of all the no’s and rejections I had received in the last few months, lead me to my first big YES!  (A secret I will share with you when the time comes). It was in that moment of Yes did I realize the value of all those no’s. Every rejection was proof of my effort and I was taking steps outside of my comfort zone.

Getting a D on a French literature paper after spending weeks writing, was not easy. Making the decision to go back to school despite the fear of repeating my failures, was not easy.  Taking a chance in the hopes to help other students with learning disability continues to be the biggest challenge of life. Despite everything I went through I would not change one page out of my story because it added to my happy ending.

You may be at the start, in the middle or close to the end, where ever you are on your journey I know greatest is coming your way. Just keep moving forward and always remember there are #NoLimits to what you can achieve.
